Australia diving trips

Australia is known to offer divers some of the most popular scuba sites in the world, with the great barrier reef being home to a huge number of them. This vast reef is an exquisite area of natural beauty that remains one of the best maintained and conserved of the worlds declining colonies of coral reefs. There are ample rewards for those who make the effort to visit and scuba dive Australia.

Port Douglas, Airlie Beach, Whitsundays, Brisbane or Cairns in North Queensland offer popular starting points for diving The Great Barrier Reef and offer a wealth of diving operators as well as other water-sports activities. Port Douglas is also well known for quality golf courses & a great place to relax. Airlie Beach & The Whitsundays offer you scuba diving, sailing & partying with a complete range of accommodation from the cheap backpacker hostels to the luxury of Hayman Island. Many dive sites exist around the Whitsunday Islands & of course the vast Great Barrier Reef lies not far to the East with enough scuba diving sites to entertain even the most experienced scuba diver. Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, is a more relaxed option to the frantic diving activity further to the North. Scuba Diving enthusiasts will not be disappointed as there is still a broad range of dive sites to choose between. The southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef is a short trip away and there some fantastic islands for scuba diving in the vicinity.

Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide boast some of the most beautiful scuba locations on the planet. Wreck dives are a specialty due to the number of boats destroyed during WWII. Many other ships have been deliberately sunk to provide artificial reefs. This has attracted a vast amount of new marine life. Adelaides scuba diving offers several wrecks as well as some of the most enjoyable boat and shore dives in the country. Kangaroo Island should definitely be visited by any serious scuba diver, as the myriad species of fish has to be seen to be believed.

Perth is often overlooked as a scuba holiday destination as there are so many other dive options around Australia. This is a great shame as there are some very worthwhile dives to be had. Busselton Jetty is the longest in the Southern Hemisphere and has a wealth of options for scuba divers of all abilities. There are also some beautifully preserved Marine Parks such as Rottnest Island. Broome is a real diving paradise with some completely unspoiled dive sites in the area. The Rowley Shoals is a protected location that is famed for its pristine coral gardens. Ningaloo Reef is not far from Exmouth & Coral Bay. It stretches for 260km along the coast and attracts huge numbers of scuba divers as well as seasonal visits from whalesharks.
